In October, as the clouds gather beneath a full moon and the bats start to swirl, visitors flock to North Georgia for some of the spookiest Halloween attractions around! Why go to some plastic-coated theme park for the scariest night of the year, when you could be spending All Hallow’s Eve in a natural forest, possibly, in your very own secluded cabin?

Take note that we regularly sweep our woods for ghosts, maniacs, boogeymen, will-o-the-wisps, werewolves, spirits, vampires, boggarts, and Dementors so that you can enjoy your stay in comfort and safety.)

Now, Helen itself gets all decked out for Halloween, but everyone knows that for the real Halloween fun to begin, you have to get out of town, and into the dark heart of the local woods.

Spooky Attractions Around Helen That Are Perfect For Halloween

Scarecrow Trail

Scarecrow Trail is an annual tradition around these parts, hosted at the scenic North Georgia Zoo in nearby Cleveland. For Halloween, they transform the zoo with decorations, mood lighting, and rows of scarecrows placed throughout the wooded paths at the park. From scary to funny, these scarecrows are created and donated by residents nearby, making it an excellent showcase for local talent.

Beyond the scarecrows, there are pumpkin patches and hay bale mazes to navigate, as well as a full petting zoo for the kids. Whether you come in the day or night, the North Georgia Zoo is one of the area’s top Halloween attractions.

Haunted Helen

There are secrets buried in the mountains alongside the North Georgia Corn Maze, and you can only reach them through Haunted Helen. This great haunted house is open year-round and is thrilling to people with its spookiness. This is a place for everyone unless, of course, you are afraid of the dark, are bothered by flashing lights, or have a heart condition.

The Cabbage Patch at Babyland General

If any of this sounds too scary for the little ones, take them to Babyland General Hospital. This world-famous attraction is home to the Cabbage Patch Kids, but they love to celebrate Halloween too, in their unique style. See the staff AND the “kids” dressed up in costumes, as you wander around a combined cabbage and pumpkin patch.

With free year-round admission, Babyland is a must-see for any family visiting the Helen area, and there’s nothing quite like Babyland at Halloween, for the cutest little scare-fest ever!
