The 829-acre Georgia state park is filled with gorgeous scenery, plants, and wildlife. It is because of the incredible views and numerous hiking trails that Amicalola Falls State Park is one of the most popular parks of its kind within the state of Georgia. The falls themselves are 729 feet high, making Amicalola Falls the tallest cascade in all of the Southeastern United States. In fact, the falls are considered to be one of the seven natural wonders of Georgia.

You will have your pick of how you would like to view the thundering waters with your choices being a relatively easy accessible pathway to a challenging trail that includes staircases. Should you decide to take the more difficult path, you can join the park’s “Canyon Climbers Club”. When you’re in the mood for some exercise and fresh mountain air you can opt to follow an 8.5-mile trail that leads from the park to Springer Mountain. Amicalola Deer Park – Located just across the way from Amicalola Falls State Park, the Amicalola Deer Park is a truly fun and unique way to get up close and personal with nature and have a close encounter with northern Georgia wildlife. While here, you can purchase bags of feed and enjoy bonding with family and friends as you feel the tickle of a deer lapping your fingers for a tasty treat. There are more than 150 deer housed in the park for you to meet and pet as you enjoy hiking trails or a tranquil stop at the river running through the park. If you are planning on visiting the area from the time span between November 12th and December 18th you will also want to be sure to visit the park to see Santa surrounded by all of his “rein”deer! It is a magical holiday experience.
