Oktoberfest 2015 begins in the middle of September this year and the Helen Chamber of Commerce has posted the 2015 Oktoberfest Bands Schedule. Many of last year’s favorites, as well as some new faces, will be playing their sweet music for us this year.

With this year being the 45th annual Oktoberfest, you can be sure to expect a special assembly of live German music. In addition to the schedule, we’ve put together photos & descriptions of each band below. September 10 – 13

Prost: A Euro-American Party Band, providing a variety of energetic music that sets the tone of the party. The Accordion and a driving beat are the cornerstone of their sound, and their vast song list includes new and old German songs.

Liab und Schneid: Liab’ und Schneid is the Mid-Atlantic’s premier duo for authentic German Alpine Music, the traditional entertainment and dance music of the mountains of Austria, Switzerland, Bavaria and South Tyrol. Their mission is to bring you the most authentic Alpine music you’ll hear on this side of the Atlantic, with the most diverse range of instruments (as well as vocals), in the most fun way possible.

September 17 – 20

Jay Fox And The Bavarian Band: The BAVARIAN SHOWTIME BAND consists of  pro-musicians. Along with Jay on accordion, vocals, yodeling, cowbells and schuhplatting, the female singer vocalizes on all styles of music with lead and backup vocals and also performs on cowbells and schuhplatting.

September 21 – September 27

Europa: A Dynamic Power Trio performing on Multiple Instruments and Vocals, Covering a very wide variety of music and songs from old German Polkas and sing alongs, to current Country. Accordion (with Midi), Trumpet, Guitar, Violin, Drums and plenty of vocal harmonies can be heard from the group, with a strong groove and passion for what they do! The Europa Band was founded in February 1994, by Hans (John) Kolbrich & Milan Dvorecky in Orlando Florida. The Band has evolved into a nationally acclaimed group with a strong following of fans ages 5-95 from Montana to Miami and California to New York!

September 28 – October 4

Terry Cavanagh and The Alpine Express: Expect the unexpected in your trek to accordion land with this serious fun musical team. Grab your hiking boots and your backpack and gear up for some high-spirited musical adventure with Terry, Catie, and America’s high-altitude polka band; Alpine Express. 

Johnny Koenig: Johnny Koenig is a high energy, young star accordion player in the polka field, living in the Pittsburgh area. The style that Johnny plays is Americanized folk music based with roots in Europe.

October 5 – 11

Squeeze Box, with Mollie B: They have become one of the most popular and well known bands specializing in live dance music and entertaining stage shows.  Currently based in Northwest Ohio, their performances include multiple genres of music including polkas, waltzes, fox-trots, 2-steps, big band, swing, square dances, and figure dances.

Euro Express: They are a European-American Band in the Chicagoland area.

October 12 – 18

Dan Witucki: Dan Witucki has entertained people all over the world since the 1970’s. Through the 80’s, his band, ‘The Music Masters Orchestra’, played throughout the Midwest and at most of the Polka and German Festivals in the United States. Dan is known throughout as one of the country’s finest concertina players and is recognized in the Concertina Hall of Fame.

Herb Albinus: Herb is strong in vocals and accordion skills, and he will blow you away.

October 19 – 25

Alpenmusikanten: AlpenMusikanten is a band that is serious about their music, and serious about having fun. They know how to get a crowd moving!
