Summer has arrived and it’s time to get away from home and have some fun! Most of us have experienced the standard “hotel and theme park” family trip, but why not try something new this year? If you are seeking a vacation with a spark of adventure, look no further than northern Georgia!
When you stay in one of the luxury cabins in Georgia, you will enjoy new experiences and thrills each day, without going too far outside of your comfort zone. Surrounded by nature, wildlife, and breathtaking mountain scenery, every moment has the potential for adventure.
At the same time, your cabin stay will provide all the creature comforts you require, and you won’t be too far from towns like Helen, where you can spend a more low-key afternoon after a morning of excitement. Whether your family is made up of adrenaline junkies or if this is your first truly “adventurous” vacation, you are sure to find activities to enjoy and remember for a lifetime.
Splish Splash!
When you vacation in a cabin in Georgia, you will be up close and personal with the Chattahoochee River, more affectionately referred to as “the ‘Hooch”. The river alone offers a wide variety of fun and exciting adventures that you just wouldn’t have back at home. Regardless of how high you want to go on the “thrill-o-meter”, you’ll find something to love about the good ol’ Hooch.
- Kayaking – Really looking for excitement? Head over to Wildwood Outfitters in Nacoochee Outfitters. They can set you up with a Kayak rental and you’ll have your choice to paddle down one of four sections of the Chattahoochee River. Ranging from mild and scenic to white water rapids, both novices and pros can make memories kayaking down the ‘Hooch.
- Fly Fishing – Northern Georgia is home to an enormous population of trout, and fly fishing is a popular pass time. Unicoi Outfitters in Nacoochee Village rents fly fishing equipment and even offers lessons for newbies! You’ll receive intimate instructions, and will try your hand at catching a trophy trout under the watchful care of an expert guide.
- Tubing – For a more relaxing and serene adventure, you’ll definitely want to visit Cool River Tubing Company. Imagine floating lazily down the Chattahoochee River with your loved ones, bonding and getting some much needed R&R.
Take a Hike!
The opportunity for adventure is literally only footsteps away from your cabin in Georgia. With ample hiking opportunities, you will get up close and personal with the beautiful northern Georgia scenery. In addition to the impromptu hikes you can take around your cabin, you can also explore a number of popular hiking trails.
- Ana Ruby Falls – This trail is of moderate difficulty, and the payoff is Ana Ruby falls! Located in Unicoi State Park, you will find this gorgeous area just north of Alpine Helen.
- Smith Creek – Not finished hiking once you reach Ana Ruby Falls? Not to worry – Smith Creek Trail picks up where the Ana Ruby Falls trail ends. As you walk around gurgling creeks and enjoy the sights and sounds around you, you will come upon the fascinating remnants of the Pleistocene period from 20, 000 years ago! This amazing bolder field is an adventure in and of itself!
- Raven Cliff Falls – This trail is longer and more challenging. Located in an expansive area of breathtaking wilderness and scenery, you will find this trail dotted with numerous waterfalls.
