North Georgia Cabin Rentals - What to Bring

north georgia cabin rentals

There is nothing like staying in a mountain cabin, however, being prepared when you are going to a rural populated area is a must. North Georgia Cabin Rentals are no exception.  Here are the top 3 of what to bring:

1.  Directions, Directions, Directions. "But I used my Navi"

We can not reiterate this enough.  Every single week we have folks that forget to bring their "final approach" directions to their cabin. At our north Georgia cabin rentals, we go as far as saying "you may get lost without it" but some choose to ignore this warning and rather than staying in luxury cabins, they end up at the Motel 6 (please do not ask for compensation if this happens).   Not only that, it seems that these folks arrive in the dark of night and somehow were sure that they knew how to get there because they had a "Navi".     People get so hooked on their Navi system and think it will get you there. That's fine in the city but we all know that sometimes these talking friendly voices take you down the wrong path.  Ever yell at your Navi friend?   Yes, they may get you close but even Google does not have these rural areas detailed correctly.  Most rental agencies provide a landing approach to your cabin.  This is the most important thing you can bring.

2. If you follow step 1, you will have a nice cozy cabin, but there are things you need to bring to make your stay comfy.   Many times you could be up to 30 minutes or more from any local store.  If you are like me, you need to eat on a regular basis.  Bring some snacks to get you by if you only plan on dining out.  Many companies have opted to go green and do not supply "sample soaps", so bringing an extra towel, your favorite soap and shampoo is advised.  This is different from your typical hotel stay (we think much nicer).

luxury cabins

Important Tip for wine drinkers: bring a wine opener just in case the last guest threw it in their bag and it was not replaced.  You may need it, especially if you did not remember step 1.

3. Know your recourse in the event of an accident. Keep in mind that many rural areas could take an hour or more to get help.  You may have a local physician a few miles away and could drive to their office in minutes.  Trip insurance includes these services.  Heaven forbid anything should happen but barring calling 911, it would be nice to know how to contact a local physician. Here is a doctors list close to a Helen, GA cabin.

With over 10,000 bookings, Cedar Creek Cabin Rentals provides these tips to help your stay to be the best cabin experience possible.  Please comment on this post and we will give a way a free $25 gas credit on your next trip to visit Cedar Creek Cabins. Put Blog25 in the guest notes when you book online (limit one credit per stay and for future stays only).

This post was very helpful in making my reservations and being prepared for my vacation. This was especially important because this was a trip that my mother and I were taking alone, and knowing what to do in certain situations was imperative as we have never been to Helen, GA before.

The instructions on this page are crucial and should not be discarded. Some trails to some cabins are steep so don't bring the Vette. Lastly, be prepared for the alarm in the cabins and disable when you first enter the cabin. I only made this mistake once!

Me and my fiance rented a cabin from Cedar Creek before and we loved it! The location was perfect and had a perfect veiw! It was us and another couple so the cabin we got a little bigger than we needed but we enjoyed the extra room. This time it was be us, two, his 2 kids, my mom, and my little sister. We are renting a different cabin but it looks like it has the same set up. Me and him go to Helen a few times a year, sometimes by ourselves. Everyone is so excited and I can't wait to go! We leave in 6 days.

This is a GREAT place to stay!

I never thought about the distance from the cabins to a doctor or how long it takes for 911 to reach the cabins in case of emergency. I'm glad to know trip insurance covers this type of situation. But I will also pack my Red Cross Trainer book for a refresher, just in case! :-)

Won't make that mistake again. My husband and I are looking forward to getting away for so peace and quiet. After 33 years together we still enjoy each others company.

Thanks, especially for the information about local doctors! It would not have occurred to me to seek out a local option - I would have assumed that 911 would take care of all incidences quickly and easily.

My wife and I just finished our stay at the Paradise cabin. Awesome place to stay. Our puppy loved the small creek and water "slides". One general suggestion we would make would be to make pet crates available to rent. As we drove from Florida with two dogs, bringing two larges crates take up a lot of room. I'm sure most people like ourselves would be more than happy to pay a little extra for this convenience. Other than that, awesome cabin and area. You are out of town but a quick 20 minute drive to Cleveland and you have everything you could need. Thanks again Cedar Creek for making our first cabin rental a great experience.

HONEYMOON TIME! I am SO excited to get to these cabins. They absolutely look like the most perfect get away! Being an indecisive couple, this website made it so easy to decide this was the place for us! Can't wait!

We received so much helpful info after booking our cabin. What to bring, what's in Helen, and 'just in case' there is a problem. Cedar Creek's booking online is as easy as 1, 2, 3 and we were set. We can't wait to get there!
